NexLaw and Southern Arizona Legal Aid Partner to Transform Legal Aid with AI Technology
NexLaw Inc. and Southern Arizona Legal Aid (SALA) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at co-developing innovative legal technology to enhance access to justice for low-income and vulnerable communities in Southern Arizona.
This collaboration brings together NexLaw’s expertise in advanced legal technology with SALA’s deep frontline experience providing free civil legal services in Tucson and surrounding areas. By working closely, the two organizations plan to refine NexLaw’sproprietary legal platform to better meet the practical needs of legal aid professionals and their clients.
Legal aid providers like SALA face significant challenges, including heavy caseloads and limited resources, which often hinder timely and effective legal representation. The new platform aims to streamline case management, improve operational efficiency and ultimately allow attorneys and paralegals to focus more on client advocacy.
Francis Lui, Founder and CEO of NexLaw, emphasized the collaborative nature of the partnership:
“We are proud to work with Southern Arizona Legal Aid, whose commitment
to community service and deep understanding of legal aid challenges will
help us build a more effective tool. Together, we aim to bridge the justice
gap and empower legal professionals with technology tailored to their
needs.”
Anthony L. Young, Executive Director of SALA, highlighted the opportunity this partnership presents:
“By actively engaging with NexLaw in the platform’s development, we can
ensure it addresses the real-world challenges our teams face daily. This
collaboration will enhance our ability to deliver critical legal services to those
who need them most in Southern Arizona.”

Under the agreement, SALA will implement the platform with its eligible clients and provide ongoing feedback to NexLaw, facilitating continuous improvement. This non- commercial partnership focuses on leveraging shared expertise and technology to improve legal aid service delivery and expand access to justice.
Southern Arizona Legal Aid serves low-income individuals and families across southern and southeastern Arizona, including Native American communities, offering assistance in areas such as family law, housing, consumer protection and immigration. NexLaw, incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in Palo Alto, California, develops privacy- first legal technology solutions designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of legal service delivery.
This partnership represents a significant step toward integrating advanced technology with frontline legal aid work, promising to enhance outcomes for underserved populations in the region.
