NexLaw Cancellation & Refund Policy

This Cancellation and Refund Policy governs the cancellation of subscriptions and refund procedures for NexLaw services, including our Free Trial period and subsequent paid plan subscriptions. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Service.

ARTICLE 1: FREE TRIAL PERIOD

1.1 Free Trial Terms

  • Access: Full access to all NexLaw Services during the trial period
  • Payment Required: Valid payment method must be provided during registration
  • Automatic Upgrade: At the end of the trial  period, your account automatically upgrades to the subscription you selected during registration

1.2 Free Trial Cancellation

  • No Charges: If you cancel during the Free Trial period, you will not be charged
  • Cancellation Deadline: You must cancel before the Free Trial expires to avoid automatic upgrade to paid subscription
  • Account Access: Service access ends when the Free Trial period expires if cancelled
  • No Penalties: No early termination fees or penalties apply for Free Trial cancellations

1.3 Automatic Upgrade After Free Trial

  • Automatic Enrollment: If you do not cancel before the Free Trial expires, you will be automatically enrolled in the subscription plan you selected during registration
  • First Charge: Your payment method will be charged according to your selected billing option (Monthly, Annual Paid Monthly, or Annual Prepaid)
  • Service Continuation: Uninterrupted access to services after Free Trial expiration

ARTICLE 2: SUBSCRIPTION BILLING TYPES

NexLaw offers three distinct billing options for subscriptions after your Free Trial expires:

2.1 Monthly Subscription

  • Billing: Monthly recurring charges
  • Commitment: No long-term commitment
  • Cancellation: Can be cancelled at any time without penalty
  • Early Termination Fee: None

2.2 Annual Subscription, Paid Monthly

  • Billing: Monthly recurring charges for a 12-month contract period
  • Commitment: 12-month contractual obligation
  • Cancellation: Can be cancelled during the contract period with early cancellation payment of the full remaining amount
  • Early Cancellation Payment: Payment of remaining monthly installments in full upfront upon cancellation

2.3 Annual Subscription, Prepaid

  • Billing: Full annual payment due upfront
  • Commitment: 12-month contractual obligation
  • Cancellation: Can be cancelled during the contract period
  • Early Termination Fee: No refund provided; service continues through contracted term

ARTICLE 3: CANCELLATION PROCEDURES

3.1 How to Cancel

Users can cancel their NexLaw Free Trial or subscription through the platform:

Primary Method - Platform Cancellation:

  1. Log in to your NexLaw account
  2. Navigate to your name at the top right of the platform
  3. Select Subscription
  4. Select your cancellation option based on your subscription type

Alternative Method - Email Support: Contact the NexLaw Services support team at info@nexlaw.ai for technical assistance with cancellation

3.2 Cancellation Processing and Effective Dates

  • Free Trial cancellations are processed immediately

  • Subscription cancellations are processed within 1-2 business days

  • You will receive email confirmation of your cancellation

  • Important: The effective date of cancellation depends on your subscription type:

  • Monthly Subscriptions: Effective at the end of current monthly billing period

  • Annual Subscriptions (Paid Monthly): Service continues until the end of the original 12-month contract term

  • Annual Subscriptions (Prepaid): Effective at the end of the annual contract term

  • Service access will continue until the effective cancellation date (for subscriptions) or until the Free Trial expires (for Free Trial cancellations)

ARTICLE 4: CANCELLATION TERMS BY BILLING TYPE

4.1 Free Trial Cancellation

  • When You Can Cancel: At any time during the Free Trial period
  • Charges: No charges if cancelled before Free Trial expires
  • Service End: Access ends when Free Trial period expires
  • No Automatic Upgrade: Will not be enrolled in the selected subscription plan
  • No Penalties: No early termination fees or penalties

4.2 Monthly Subscription Cancellation

  • When You Can Cancel: At any time without penalty
  • Service Continuation: Services will end at the end of the current monthly billing period
  • Refunds: No refunds for the current month’s payment already processed
  • Early Termination Fees: None
  • Future Charges: No future charges will be applied after cancellation

4.3 Annual Subscription, Paid Monthly Cancellation

  • Early Cancellation Option: You may cancel your Annual (Paid Monthly) subscription at any time during the 12-month contract period

  • Early Cancellation Payment: Upon cancellation, you must pay the full remaining balance of your contract upfront

  • Example: If you subscribed on January 1, 2025 for a $2,000 annual contract ($166.67/month) and cancel in June 2025 after paying 6 monthly installments ($1,000), you must pay the remaining $1,000 upfront upon cancellation

  • Service Continuation: After making the early cancellation payment, your service will continue uninterrupted until the end of your original 12-month contract term (e.g., December 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM)

  • No Additional Charges: No further monthly charges will be applied after the early cancellation payment

  • Payment Processing: The early cancellation payment will be charged to your payment method on file within 1-2 business days of cancellation request

  • No Refunds: The early cancellation payment is final and non-refundable

4.4 Annual Subscription, Prepaid Cancellation

  • Early Cancellation: Permitted but no refunds will be provided
  • Service Continuation: Service will continue until the end of your annual contract term
  • No Early Termination Fee: No additional fees, but no refund of prepaid amount
  • Contract Completion: You may choose not to renew at the end of your contracted term

ARTICLE 5: REFUND POLICY

5.1 Free Trial Refunds

  • No Charges During Trial: No refunds necessary as no charges are applied during the Free Trial period
  • Cancel Before Upgrade: Cancel before the Free Trial expires to avoid any charges

5.2 General Refund Terms

  • No Refunds: After purchasing a plan, customers will not be able to return it for a replacement or refund, except as specifically outlined in this policy
  • Non-Refundable Payments: All payments made for services are non-refundable except as required by applicable law
  • No Partial Refunds: No refunds or credits will be provided for unused time in your subscription term
  • Pre-payments: No refunds for pre-payments made for services
  • Early Cancellation Payments: Early cancellation payments for Annual (Paid Monthly) subscriptions are final and non-refundable

5.3 Exception Circumstances

Refunds may be considered only in the following exceptional circumstances:

  • Billing errors made by NexLaw
  • Legal requirements under applicable consumer protection laws

5.4 Refund Request Process

To request a refund under exceptional circumstances:

  1. Contact info@nexlaw.ai within 30 days of the billing issue
  2. Provide detailed explanation and supporting documentation
  3. NexLaw will review and respond within 10 business days
  4. All refund decisions are at NexLaw’s sole discretion

ARTICLE 6: ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

6.1 Automatic Renewal

  • Free Trial to Paid Plan: Automatically upgrades to selected subscription plan after Free Trial unless cancelled
  • Monthly Subscriptions: Automatically renew each month until cancelled
  • Annual Subscriptions: Automatically renew annually unless cancelled before renewal date
  • Payment Method: Subscriptions will charge the payment method on file
  • Renewal Notice: Email notification will be sent prior to annual renewal

6.2 Payment Method Updates

  • Users can update payment methods anytime through their NexLaw account
  • Failure to maintain valid payment information may result in service suspension
  • NexLaw will attempt to process payment with backup methods if primary method fails

6.3 Service Suspension

NexLaw may suspend accounts for:

  • Failed payments after multiple attempts
  • Violation of Terms of Service
  • Fraudulent activity
  • Any other breach of service agreements

ARTICLE 7: ACCOUNT TERMINATION BY NEXLAW

7.1 Immediate Termination

NexLaw reserves the right to immediately suspend or terminate your account if we have reason to believe, through conviction, settlement, investigation, or other evidence, that you have:

  • Engaged in fraudulent activity related to our services
  • Violated our Terms of Service
  • Engaged in any illegal or harmful activities using our services
  • Misused our services in any way that could harm NexLaw or other users

7.2 Termination Without Refund

If NexLaw terminates your account for violation of terms or fraudulent activity:

  • No refunds will be provided for any unused service period
  • No refunds will be provided for prepaid amounts
  • Service access will be terminated immediately

ARTICLE 8: DATA RETENTION AND EXPORT

8.1 Data Access After Cancellation

  • Data remains accessible until the end of your current billing period or contracted term
  • After service termination, data may be permanently deleted
  • Users are responsible for exporting any data they wish to retain before service termination

8.2 Data Export Procedures

  • Users should export data before cancelling their subscription
  • NexLaw may provide limited data export assistance for a fee after cancellation
  • Data export requests must be made within 30 days of service termination

ARTICLE 9: DISPUTE RESOLUTION

9.1 Billing Disputes

  • All billing disputes must be reported within 60 days of the disputed charge
  • Contact info@nexlaw.ai with detailed information about the dispute
  • NexLaw will investigate and respond within 15 business days

9.2 Service Disputes

  • Service-related disputes should be reported promptly
  • NexLaw will work in good faith to resolve legitimate service issues
  • Dispute resolution is subject to the arbitration provisions in our Terms of Service

ARTICLE 10: LEGAL COMPLIANCE

10.1 Consumer Protection Laws

This policy is subject to applicable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction. Where local laws provide greater consumer protections than outlined in this policy, those laws will supersede this policy.

10.2 Regulatory Requirements

NexLaw complies with all applicable billing and cancellation regulations, including:

  • Credit card industry standards
  • Federal Trade Commission regulations
  • State consumer protection laws
  • International consumer protection regulations where applicable

ARTICLE 11: POLICY CHANGES

11.1 Updates to Policy

  • NexLaw reserves the right to update this Cancellation and Refund Policy at any time
  • Continued use of services after policy changes constitutes acceptance of new terms
